Serving generations

AMS was founded in 1982, from a home office working with local businesses and sole traders in Blackburn. Over the last three decades we’ve grown with our clients into a nationwide firm offering a diverse range of accountancy, tax and financial services for clients big and small.

We pride ourselves on having an entrepreneurial attitude and we’re as ambitious as you are, with a focus on consolidating and growing your business. And unlike most accountants, AMS is made up of a group of specialists who can work together to offer you a customised solution for your needs.

1982

Adam Mohammed Sidat founded AMS Accountants, starting as a small family practice working from a home office in Blackburn, Lancashire.

1989

We move into our first office at 308 Whalley Old Road, Blackburn.

1990

We hire our first two full-time employees, the start of a team that will grow to over 100 by 2015.

1994

A second office is opened in Dewsbury, headed by Nasir Laher who is still with us - one of AMS' longest-running employees.

2006

Ebrahim Sidat joins the firm as Director, following several years working in KMPG's Healthcare Division.

2007

Following years of solid growth, we open a head office in Manchester, taking on more clients and colleagues.

We also start our own Academy, with a focus on professional training for new starters and an active policy of recruiting colleagues who have not had the opportunity to study at university.

2013

David Clegg joins as a Partner and Director.

AMS' founder, Adam Mohammed Sidat retires and Ebrahim becomes Managing Director. Following Ebrahim's appointment AMS begins a sustained period of expansion of clients and colleagues in Taxation, Insolvency and Islamic Financing.

Later this year AMS also gains a Silver Award for Investors in People.

2014

Offices open in Mayfair, London building on further success in winning new clients in the South-East.

2015

AMS moves into larger offices in Dewsbury, restoring the iconic 'Toy Soldier' building at Wesley Place.

This new office is opened by Baroness Warsi, and the evening also serves to hosts our second AU Nexus networking event.
